Book Enchantments

I've noticed that I have two books that I've enchanted that "lost" the enchantment, but are still enchanted books. They are useless in an anvil with an item.

The one that caught my attention was when I was holding one with Protection I, and later it turned out I was holding this "enchanted book".

i  also hold an "enchanted book" i'll show it to you sometime. it's wierd it has nothing written on it no protection no nothing.

Perhaps that might have something to do with the deathscript thing. I seem to recall having similar issues before with data being dropped off of certain things.

Yep. Blue_Dwarf is right, as always. Minecraft handles books HORRIBLY. If you die with them or go to creative with them in your inventory they have a VERY HIGH (but not perfect) chance of corrupting. I can do literally nothing about that. Moral of the story, dont store enchanted books on you unless you plan to use them immediately.

Right! That would make sense. I had died/gone to nether.

I've seen this happen once or twice, even in singleplayer. Best thing is, only take 'em out when you're gonna use 'em.
