Hostile Mobs not spawning

Could it be certain only certain people experience this? I swear when I'm on and alone, there's nary a monster to be seen, but for once in a blue moon. Second someone else comes on, BAM! I'm swarmed. The complete opposite of my experience a month or so ago when I was swarmed outside spawn when there was nobody else on.

A while ago they had an update where things were supposed to get harder (more spawns, stronger spawns) the longer you stayed in an area. Maybe there's some bad data from that saved to your player file which for some reason causes you to not cause mobs to spawn. I recall Sig having his files reset once, so that could be connected to why he specifically seems to have troubles.

I'm grasping at straws here.

Yeah, my curse. Everywhere I go, my user profiles get borked constantly. Work, here, other games I've played. I back stuff up religiously. And seriously, I'm not like some mad black hat hacker and don't screw around with questionable stuff on the internet. I think I just have that 'f**ks up electronics' aura.
