Channels

Chat's been getting pretty busy as of late, what with all you people coming back to the server. Last weekend we hit a peak of 22, and amazing as that was, the chat was getting quite difficult to read.

Solution? Well, chat channels. We've done this in the past, and I'd like to bring it back. I even have a plugin in mind already. My question to everyone is what channels should we have, and just how much should the change?

Some potentials Channels:

• Global (Everyone would be subscribed automatically, but could choose to unsubcribe)
  
• Advice (Specifically for questions. New players subscribed automatically)
  
• Private Channels for recognized groups, such as Lake Eschaton.
  

Those are just a few ideas. I want to hear your ideas, or your concerns.

I think the real question is is advice going to be useless again and only used to annoy admins because that was hilarious and we should totally keep it. Would the private channels be made by players or requested?

Private channels would indeed be at player request, and require that some larger number of players have need of it. I imagine need for most channels won't be apparent until after we go public again.

Nothing exact. There's a little more I want to get squared away on the plugin side of things, but we're in pretty good shape. 2-ish weeks?
