Windows 10

If you've got Windows 7 or Windows 8(/8.1) you've probably been prompted about getting a free upgrade to Windows 10 on July 29th.

So, anyone planning on getting Windows 10 when it launches?
If so, why? If not... Why not?
Any other comments on Windows 10?
And most importantly of all: What happened to Windows 9? :O

I think Ive seen that message before..
I don't plan on getting it (I have windows 7) because my boyfriend has Windows 8 and its confusing as hell. Windows 10 can't be any better I would think.

I will be getting Windows 10. I currently use Windows 8.1, and believe it or not, I think it's 100% better than windows 7. I'd be more than happy to convince you as to why

Also, Windows 10 is bringing back the start menu, the one complaint I ever hear about 8, so...

Actual start menu? That may be reason enough to upgrade. I dislike tiles, hence my affection for Windows 7. It's as close to 98/XP as I can get, and that's what I'm used to.

On a side note, I will never own a touchscreen because I ****ing detest people touching the screen. Just FYI. Older computer users will understand this.

I am getting the prompt, but I think I'm gonna wait till my friend beta tests it. He's gung ho about shit like that.

I put windows 10 on my tablet.. Kinda liked 8 better on the tablet..

I haven't really gotten to test Windows 10 out in a desktop environment, feels like it's a little more Desktop friendly then Windows 8.

I still have the feeling I'll prefer Windows 7 over 10 in a desktop environment, of course Wolf will disagree.. He likes things normal people dont (example Windows 8 on desktop)

Pro tip to people in General. Windows Key + the first 3 letters of what you want + Enter key. Mission accomplished. No start menu. No start screen. Just a running program.

I was surprised recently to find that despite Windows 7 being a great improvement over XP/Vista, it does have its problems. Like handling sound on multiple monitors on laptop hardware, or dealing with docking stations (although Lenovo is also a big sink for blame). If 10 brings robust fixes/solutions for known problems in 7 and 8/8.1 (I'm not enough in the loop to list any here), great! It's a welcome update.

However, my rule of thumb is to avoid a new OS version until a few months have passed so the initial show-stopper bugs can be worked out. On my new hardware, I will be sticking with Windows 7.

I personally think upgrading to Windows 10 will be a good idea because based on this link, it basically sounds like a mix between 7 and 8.1, in the sense that they've brought back the start menu on the taskbar. However, it looks more professional and, from what I've heard, it works better than the Windows 7 one anyway. There are also a few new features coming along with Windows 10, and I'm personally very excited for the update. (In other words, I will be getting it.)
