What is your favorite item?

In all of Vanilla (1.8) Minecraft, what is your favorite item?
Blocks, tools, materials, food, whatever. Just choose one item, your favorite item, and post it here!

Mine was the sponge until Mojang changed the texture, so I'll have to think of a new one... Probably the Cactus or Dead Shrub currently.

Stairs. Doesn't matter what material, just stairs. There's so much you can do with them now that they are neighbor aware. Malice hates it, but I use stairs on pretty much everything.

Something that represents me? Maybe Mossy Cobblestone. I'm really into the details of building, which might include something that while structurally unwanted (the moss) can be aesthetically pleasing.

It's probably obvious but my favorite item has to be redstone, the fact that such a simple mechanic as on and off, can lead to a plethora of wondrous inventions is incredible. An item that represents me would most likely be a pickaxe or any other tool because when I build things they have to have a purpose other then just being aesthetically pleasing much like a tool always has a purpose.

Lapis Lazuli! Always been a fan of that gem for some reason and a food item would be the Pufferfish. Those things are a delicacy in some countries....
