Make Creative Flat?

It was suggested to me last week that perhaps the Creative world should be a flat one. I'm all for having a Flat world, but currently I don't trust the server to handle two creative worlds, not until the hardware is modernized anyways.

So the question is, should a Flat world be created, and the existing Creative world be archived? It wouldn't be gone, per say, just not used. When the hardware was capable, we could bring it back again.

I kind of like our ragtag creative world, but if people prefer to work on a flat surface, no biggie. If it's archived, I'd love to get a copy. Consider me an off-site backup. (I've already got the other worlds!)

I would be okay with switching over to a flat creative map. Not just as a matter of having flat land, but also as a matter of starting a fresh creative world so players don't have to look too far to build.

Alternatively, and I think I would favor such a solution, we could reposition the spawn to somewhere less densely packed with creations, and simply create flatlands per request if players want a slab to build on.
We could install a plugin like VoxelSniper and a mod or admin could create the surface for them fairly easily.
That or command blocks. I don't know exactly how to work those commands, but I am pretty sure you could probably generate a roughly 180x180 surface with a single command. (minecraft has a limit of editing around 32k blocks at once)

I wonder if changing the map type to Flat would be enough for this, actually. If we changed it to flat, then teleported to a random location beyond the generated world, it should continue the generation with flat land. That would solve the issue quite nicely.

If Dwarf's solution works, I'm all for that otherwise I'm down for the creation of a flat world for Creative.

I would like a flat world, and don't mind whether it's a new creative or an option discussed above.

I like the proposed plan of switching the world to 'Flatland' generation, then we can move the spawn out into a big flat area with a portal to the old spawn for those who wish to visit it.

That is, if that plan actually works as expected.
